Reflection on Chapter 7

Before reading this article about college cafeterias and how they are sustain. I will learn in this passage how most colleges nationwide are handling their food and budgeting .. Also it might talk about where most colleges are getting their sources from. For example where most of their food are coming from. Is it good what the government is doing to help colleges maintain clean cafeterias. Is colleges getting good grade reports for their cafeterias from the government. Is the colleges doing a bad job on maintain and making sure the cafeterias are sustainable.

After reading this article about how colleges handle the sustainability of food is really interesting .  Where in some colleges most produce served in dining comes from local farms. In Massachusetts , Smith College removed bottle water from one to go location and distributes polycarbonate bottles to be refilled, and reused by students. It is really great that colleges nationwide are finding different variety of ways to help sustain recycling everywhere. Especially in this story it goes in more specific details . How many colleges are trying so many ways to reuse recycling and the way they get their food from is really great for colleges especially for the students .

Chapter 7 Reflection

Before reading chapter 7 on understanding paragraphs, I believe it will be about how we can understand paragraphs better. Also how we can use certain strategies to analyze certain details in a paragraph. Therefore there will be certain sentences that can actually help us explain certain details with in certain paragraphs when we are reading stories in many articles. Finally when reading chapter 7 I will acquire knowledge about understanding paragraphs when I'm reading .

After reading chapter 7, I learned that supporting details is facts and ideas explains the overall view of the paragraph. Where it gives explanations about the main idea of this paragraph. Also I also learned that key details are details that directly explains the main idea. Therefore when reading a paragraph I can now recognize what these details give to you and how to tell if these details are in the paragraph.  When I'm reading a major or important story I can now going to more details when I'm actually reading an article in the future.

Reflection - Chapter 6

Before reading chapter 5 I believe it will be about how we can understand how to read a paragraph. Also understanding the main points of the paragraph,  how it can be analyzed better by us. Then when I read this chapter I will gather information on how I can view a paragraph differently. Therefore when I'm reading any type of story I can identify what is important and what is not important.

After reading chapter 6 I can now say when reading a paragraph I can look at it more differently. When I know what the topic is and what the main idea is of the paragraph. Topic is the subject of the whole paragraph and the main idea is the point the whole paragraph is making. Other sentences in a paragraph is called details and where authors, writers uses transition words. Transition words are words that connects the whole paragraph which are ideas and phrases. A paragraph is a group of related sentences that actually makes a paragraph. I can now say after learning what is a paragraph and knowing the terms to fully understanding a paragraph, I can actually read articles to understand them.

Chapter 6- War Torn

Before reading this article I can tell that the article will be about a veteran that came back from fighting a war in Iraq and Afghanistan. During their time in battle it is how the soldiers at war comes home with many types of injuries. Where the injuries of the soldiers have a major affect on them when they are home from war. During this time period I believe that this passage will talk about the affects of many veterans that are home from war oversees.

After reading this article it is about a veteran soldier who is a former Army Sergeant name Chuck Luther. Where Chuck Luther has a illness called or known as post-traumatic stress disorder. This was cause by a mortar blast exploded nearby and knocked him to the floor. This was the cause of the veteran disorder, where it made him extremely sick where Chuck had visions of the mortar attack and is haunted by the blood, pain he had seen. Plus many of these soldiers with this disorder can have a huge impact on them and their families.
